When a storms comes in from the ocean it starts as a gentle breeze that gradually builds and begins to slam the waves against the rocks of the shore line as if it were mercilessly beating them. The trees, once swaying gently, begin to bend and bow to the power of nature. All of this when the sky is still clear and blue. Then, slight clouds begin to appear and off in the distance of the horizon the water at the edge of the world begins to darken in the middle of the day and the gathering storm begins to come over the horizon and creep toward the shore and more clouds begin to form and gather; as if the storm itself were a vengeful god calling destroying angels to gather.
The thrill of watching such an event, of being out in the elements knowing shelter would be the wiser choice, is an exhilarating and terrifying feeling. You can’t help but imagine yourself a sailor lost on a boat caught in the middle of the gale while you stand safely on the land and hope that all sailors art safe that day while the darkness spreading over the sky and the water begins to spread toward the shore.
‘A storm comes to the ocean’ is painted using professional-grade oil paints on an 8-inch x 10-inch canvas board and mounted in a 10-inch x 12-inch floater frame. It also comes with a certificate of authenticity and a provenance report.
